Breaking: TCI Premier calls 2021 election date

UPDATED: 11 January 2021

After long anticipation for the election date to be called, the Premier, Hon. Sharlene Cartwright-Robinson has finally announced the date for the 2021 elections. The date to mark in your calendars is 19th February 2021.

The announcement was made tonight during the Peoples Democratic Movement’s special event held on West Road, Grand Turk.

Under the Constitution of the TCI, general elections must be called between 35 days and three months of the House of Assembly being dissolved.

Both parties and independent candidates have taken to the streets and social media to canvas for support in their campaigns. However, we can imagine that with the date now being set, we will soon be hearing much more from candidates regarding their plans and vision for the country.

So get ready to mark your X at the polling stations on 19th February.

Please note: According to the Elections Ordinance, the Register of Electors is published on March 31st each year. Although this is usually in good time for an election when held between November – December as customary, because of the date of our elections this year (19th February), the Register containing names of those registered after November 30, 2019 will not appear in the Register being used on election day. Please see the press release dated 30 November 2020 on the TCIG website which states that the Register used to facilitate elections will be the one that was published on March 31, 2020 [based on the application period ending November 30, 2019].

Who will you be voting for on February 19 – 🔔🐚❤ IND? 👀 #tcielections2021
